DESCRIPTION

The whole game fits on one floppy disk. Write Python-style code to program repair patchers, reclaim a corrupting 1.44MB floppy sector by sector, and watch your programs bring 1,474,560 bytes back to life. Automation, unlocks, chiptunes — every byte hand-counted.

HISTORY

1.44MB RESCUE began as an entry to the 1.44MB Game Dev Contest by 2P GAME ARCADE, where every submission had to fit on a single 3.5" floppy disk. Everything ships inside one executable: a Python-style language interpreter, the simulation, the renderer and a software synthesizer. There are no asset files — every pixel and every note is generated at runtime. The contest build (submitted in August 2026) used 34% of the disk. The free demo launched on Steam in September 2026 as part of Steam Programming Fest, and the full game releases on Steam on November 3, 2026.

AI DISCLOSURE

AI tools were used during development to help compose the soundtrack, draw the pixel art, and draft text (including localization and this page), all under human direction — every piece was reviewed, curated, and approved by the developer. All content is fixed at build time; the game contains no live or runtime AI generation.
